TAMEKAHARRISLIVE passionately sings into a microphone during her performance debut for Creative Nomads' Creative Caroling Project 2024. She is wearing a white and denim outfit, gold accessories, and a smartwatch, with eyes closed and an expression of joy. A water bottle, microphone stand, and notebook are visible on the table beside her. The banner features bold white text on an orange background that reads, "MY DEBUT: Creative Nomads’ Creative Caroling Project 2024," with "TAMEKAHARRISLIVE" branding and a "December 2024" label.

This holiday season, I had the privilege of stepping into something both festive and deeply meaningful: the Creative Nomads Creative Caroling Project.

But let me tell you upfront—this is not just about holiday cheer. It’s about voices coming together, and a reminder that art, in its purest form, connects us to each other and ourselves. On December 21, 2024, I will make my debut with this incredible initiative, and I want to take you on the journey that led me here.

What is the Creative Caroling Project?

You’ve heard of caroling, right?

Now take that image and multiply it by ten—no, a hundred—in impact.

The Creative Nomads Creative Caroling Project is about more than just singing songs. It’s about filling spaces, minds, and hearts with the kind of joy that lingers long after the last note fades. A collective of singers, musicians, and dreamers come together to spread cheer, but also to champion something bigger: arts access for communities that need it most. Every voice raised carries purpose. And this unique caroling project is an act of love.

Who is Creative Nomads?

Before I tell you about my experience, let me shine a light on the organization behind this beautiful vision. Creative Nomads was founded by Kayenecha Dougherty, whose passion for the arts runs deeper than words can express. Their mission? To bring arts education and creative experiences to those who might not otherwise have access.

When you hear "arts education," think less about textbooks and more about real-life transformation—young people discovering their voices, families sharing laughter at workshops, and artists stepping into their power. This organization is proof that creativity doesn’t just enrich lives; it elevates the human spirit.

My First Time: A Journey of Purpose

When I first heard about the Creative Caroling Project, my spirit whispered, this is where you need to be. As someone who thrives on performance and connection, it felt like stepping into a space created just for me. But what I didn’t expect was how much I would be moved along the way.

Rehearsals: Finding the Rhythm of Us

The first rehearsal set the tone. Imagine walking into a room humming with energy—not just from voices warming up, but from the people themselves. Creatives of all ages and backgrounds came with open hearts and powerful gifts. And me? I stood there, breathing it in. This wasn’t just practice; it was a collective promise to bring something extraordinary to life.

Rehearsals were about more than perfecting the music. They were about building community and elevating the craft. Each session felt like a space where I could show up fully—not just as a performer, but as a creative spirit. I let go of overthinking and leaned into freedom: freedom to sing, to express, to be. And in doing so, I was reminded that creativity isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.

The Anticipation: December 21, 2024

Here’s the thing: we all know that performance day is where the magic happens, but the truth is, the magic has already begun. Every rehearsal has been a moment of joy. Every person I’ve met has reminded me of what’s possible when we show up for something greater than ourselves.

On December 21st, we take the stage. And I won’t just be singing carols—I’ll be sharing love. Love for the music, love for this community, and love for the belief that the arts matter, that people matter. When voices rise together, something powerful happens—we lift each other up.

Why the Work of Creative Nomads Matters

Let’s be real—not everyone has access to spaces where creativity thrives. Sometimes, arts programs are the first thing to go, and when that happens, we lose more than skills or talent. We lose connection. We lose stories. We lose opportunities for expression, for healing, and for joy.

Organizations like Creative Nomads bridge that gap. They show up. They create opportunities. And they remind us that art isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity—a lifeline that connects us to the beauty within ourselves and the world around us.

So, if you’re reading this and you believe in the power of creativity, I encourage you to check out the work Creative Nomads is doing. Whether you attend an event, donate, or simply spread the word, you’re helping keep the arts alive for those who need them most.

Join Us Next Year!

This year’s Creative Nomads Creative Caroling Project has already left its mark on me, and we haven’t even hit the big day yet. If something in you is stirring—that pull to create, to contribute, to connect—consider joining us next time. You don’t have to be a professional singer or performer; you just have to show up with heart.

Trust me—the joy you give will come back to you tenfold.

To learn more about Creative Nomads, their mission, and upcoming opportunities, visit their website or follow them on social media. Get involved. Be part of the story. Because we all have a voice, and the world is better when we use it.

As for me? I’m stepping into this experience with gratitude, excitement, and an open heart. I can’t wait to share more about my experience with you.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with connection, creativity, and a song or two that touches your soul.
